Anyone else wanna take a crack at it?

Well...it has to do with volatility and importance.

1 reply 'usually' denotes normal conversation...

8 replies 'usually' denotes, well...many things.

If we're voting here...I vote to show the number of replies...but i don't have to code it...so, do whatever you want to do.

Does it matter how many replies a post has when it comes to the click/no-click decision?

Sometimes. Well worth keeping, for sure.

If there are 20 replies, I'll likely check them out before posting my 2¢'s worth. If there is 1 reply, I'm more likely to just say my part without checking what else was said already. One other user example of many, besides the ones already mentioned...

Yes, because I can often remember if I read one or two replies, and I know to click it if the number has increased.
