I've never had any confidence in tinker bells as a bear deterent.

Reminds me of the joke; I'm sure it's a repeat but here goes:

Q -- How do you tell the difference between grizzly scat and black bear scat?

A -- Black bear scat is purplish and is mottled with berry seeds. Grizzly scat smells like pepper and is mottled with little bells that go tinkle.

Do be careful out there, shoe.

I love my snowshoes, although I'm too old and heavy to use them much any more. They hang on my office wall. I got mine for trapping when I was 13, from L.L. Bean in Freeport Maine. That was before they became a yuppy supply house.
