Read personal histories of the Vietnam war. There were thousands of terrible atrocities commited on both sides. Mi Lai was not a rare event, it was tragically too common. Plus you had the Pheonox Program running out of the CIA which was basically a terrorism and assassination program which killed thousands in very ugly ways. Intentionally.

By 1971 it was a total savage mess in Nam and we had no hope of winning. Kerry was telling the truth. He didn't make up anything. He heard it all from the horse's mouths. I'm sorry if some people find the truth ugly but Kerry did do a wonderful thing in shocking the natiojn with the truth, he helped end Vietnam sooner than it would have otherwise ended. He was so potent Nixon personally feared him. Later Nixon apologized to Kerry for hurting him and smearing him. The rightwing today also owes Kerry a big apology. Not to mention McCain and Cleland.

Every chapter a confession of the soldiers' true histories and all the bad shit that went down. Includiong a Phnoenix Program SEAL assassin who went mad after killing many many enemy in expert terrible ways. Will make you cry. Nobody blames the soldiers. It was the war itself, the crimes and lies at the top. Just like now with Iraq. Nobody blames the soldiers. The soldiers deserve our 100% support.
