The H5N1 virus has been recombining in earnest for several years and WHO is issuing statements that they may never know about the human to human transmission. The virus in Vietnam and Thailand is amantadine ressitant and some human strains are becoming resistant to Tamiflu (which is less than ideal against H5N1 even without the resistance).

Human travel by air is at an all time high as was the detection of the H5N1 virus throughout Asia last season. Things are much worse than most realize
