If nothing else, Lieberman would have grounded the Kerry campaign and elevated the substantive level of this election by reinforcing the common ground for the national security debate. Instead we get a schmuck like Kerry whose very public acts of moral cowardice and indecisiveness have already emboldened our enemies like Iran and North Korea. Can you believe that the Democrats are running a candidate for POTUS, DURING A TIME OF WAR, who can no longer take any national security position without flatly contradicting himself?

Palestinian Gunmen Kidnap CNN Producer Sep 27, 1:20 PM (ET) apnews.myway.com GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Palestinian gunmen abducted a CNN producer in Gaza City on Monday, the network said. The network said Riyadh Ali was taken away at gunpoint from a CNN van. Witnesses said two cars with gunmen approached the CNN van on a Gaza street and that Ali was taken away. CNN correspondent Ben Wedeman said he had no idea of why Ali was kidnapped. Colleagues of Ali said he worked as a producer and was based at the network's Jerusalem bureau. "These men were not very communicative, they just asked, 'Which one of you is Riyadh?' and that was it," he said in a CNN broadcast. "Their appearance was not unusual, they weren't dressed in any way different than your average Gazan of their age, which was somewhere in their early twenties. No indication whatsoever." Wedeman said CNN was making attempts to secure Ali's release. The Jerusalem bureau of CNN refused to comment.
