The actual numbers are (seasonally adjusted):

Northeast 6.1%
South 12.6%
West 19.5%
Mid-West -8.3%

census.gov

I'm scratching my head ... my area of the "West" is ice cold.

keep in mind that since Clinton ALL gov statistics have a positive headline no matter what you find in the inside. WS and the media runs with the head line misleading the masses.

Just for starters what is the rate of inflation since the DOW crossed 10,000 and SPX 1100 and how much “GDP growth” and productivity was amassed during this period? .. and then arrive to your own conclusions

This part was interesting, "On a regional basis, sales of new homes rose in the Northeast (+6.1%), South (+12.6%), and West (+19.5%) but dropped 8.3% in the West." I assume that first "West" was a typo.

Your assumption was the same as mine.
But we both are wrong.
I just spoke with Paul K At Northern Trust

Here is the correct sentence:
"On a regional basis, sales of new homes rose in the Northeast (+6.1%), South (+12.6%), and West (+19.5%) but dropped 8.3% in the Midwest."
