I bet it was tough... it was pretty bad here in northern Pinellas.

They say we are starting a period of increased activity, but I doubt we will have it this bad again. You have go back about 140 years for a season like this, and it was Texas not FL.


They are blaming the series of storms in FLA on what they call the Bermuda high. Apparently its a high that parks itself a few hundred miles off the east coast during the summer. That allows the storms to run up parallel to the coast and turn out to sea.

However, this year the high is right adjacent to the coast. That has forced the storms to go into FLA or the Gulf, and then make a turn northward over land, moving around the stationery high.

In the meantime, I have not heard from my cousin. I hope they are okay.
