Another eyestrain problem is the variable width msg box. I noticed this on the browser pics you posted a few minutes ago. You have to physically move your eyes all the way across 17 inches of monitor to read them. Or 21 inches of monitor. They're about 30 words per line.

It's fine that the nav bar and all the other page elements can expand and contract. The msg box, itself, should have a fixed width to allow approx. 10-12 words per line, period.

Book publishers have had 500 years to figure this out. Reading studies have shown that sticking to about 10-12 words per line increases readability, reduces eye strain. That's why you don't see many books that are 2 feet wide with 30 words per line. I would draw on the 500 years of experience that the publishing industry has with this before reinventing the wheel.
