The fight of Jihadists vs. the civilized world may have started with Al Qaeda as an organizing force of the Jihadists, but it by no means ends there. It pretty much does end there. You take out al Qaeda, and you probably have taken out 80% of international terrorists. What's left, a couple of thousand people? What amount of resources are you going to devote to getting those people? More than to curing cancer or heart desease? Home grown regional terrorism is another matter; Oklahoma City is a good example. You prevent that with great local intelligence and police work. The iraq war has accomplished nothing wrt terrorism, except to create home grown terrorists in Iraq. John
