<There are three reasons why we have invaded, conquered and are occupying Iraq. One analyst created the acronym "OIL" for these reasons:

O = Oil. We now have control over some of the world's richest oil fields.>

That's thievery.

<I = Israel. We have removed a threat to the nation of Israel, and through our presence in the region discourage overt attacks against it.>

Israel is a democratic ally to both Kerry and Bush and it represents a strategic military location. Zionism has nothing to do with US support for Israel. The USA is not a Jewish country. Zionism is an Israeli and Jewish matter. To be sure, part of the reason why the World Trade Center was attacked was that the terrorists could kill lots of Jews in the process too. But keep in mind that the terrorists don't just hate Jews. The Terrorists hate Americans. And the reasons go alot deeper than support for Israel. Please don't be so naive.

<L = Logistics. We are in the process of creating large, permanent military bases in Iraq. This means we will not have to go begging for space everytime we are involved in a military conflict in the area.>

After 9/11, I see nothing wrong with that-although, I'm honestly disappointed that the Bush Administration did not go after the terrorists in Iran and Syria, especially Iran, the home of Islamic Fundamentalism.

<<...If the Bush administration remains in power, failure in Iraq is a virtual certainty. "Staying the course" during a crisis spiraling rapidly downward will cost thousands of American and Iraqi lives, will continue to sap the operational readiness of this nation's armed forces, and will continue to strengthen Al Qaeda's hand. To paraphrase FDR, it's time to change horses. The one we're on is about to drown...>>
