Health care is misunderstood by most people in this country.

I have worked most of my adult life in the health insurance industry and benefits aren't dropping as most people are led to believe.

Most surgical procedures cost more and health insurance must pay the higher costs. New technologies are costing more and insurance claims are paying the "higher cost" of treatment.

Some incidental benefits like Dr office visits may be eliminated or higher deductibles may be in play but, insurance companies are paying much more in dollars per claim for hosptial confinements.

Since insurance is an intangible, most people don't relate to what is going on in the industry. All they know is that their premiums are rising and their usuage isn't.

Fact is, if a serious surgical requirement was neccesary, the insurance company would be paying the higher costs of said treatment.

Suma,

You know there has to be a logical solution to the health insurance mess. One thing that's certain is the most illogical way to provide insurance is to have it met by two of the most inefficient providers of anything: government and employee benefits.

What if we decided that the way to have auto insurance was to get it through your employer. Bigger companies could provide better insurance while minimum wage earners would not have any insurance benefits. . . .
