I haven't followed OVTI closely. Did they warn last quarter like most of the chip companies?

They beat revenues and EPS by a touch in July Q report (about 23 Aug reporting date), but lowered forward guidance from consensus ~$102m to $80m-$90m, with product transition away from VGA chips to 1.3 Megapixel camera phone chips as the explanation. They say they don't want to end up with inventory of older VGA chips that may become obsolete, so would rather be unable to meet demand for VGA chips than overproduce. Go figure.

I think their biz area (primarily camera phone chips) should resist the semi downturn pretty well.

And if the 5 Megapixel digital camera chip announced yesterday actually works, they should have two reasonably strong growth drivers for 2005 (camera phones and gaining share in digital cameras).
