No, they're coming in from explorer.

Every time I fire up the machine, explorer get started, and something has attached itself to IE.

It's popping up an ad accusing me of downloading porn and then in another popup trying to sell me a popup blocker. Bastards!

The new sp2 for XP has stopped popups for me.

Some sites you visit use popups when you click on a link,...you would miss these things that you may want to see if your browser is suppressing all popups. XP puts a bar telling you it's suppressing a popup,...otherwise you might think a site is not working for you.

As with everything in life, there is no clear cut line saying this is good and this is bad. There is a lot of grey between the blacks and whites.
