Speaking of health care, I just received a call from my son who is on active duty in the Navy. A friend of his received orders for shore duty in Spain which was his first choice of duty stations. The man is married and has a child. The Navy found out today that the sailor's son has a heart condition and rescinded the sailor's orders. The reason given was that there aren't any facilities over there that the Navy feels confident to treat the child's heart condition in the event something goes wrong.

We take the quality of care in this country for granted. There's a price that goes along with that treatment.

A lot of Canadians cross the border for health care when it comes to surgical procedures.

Affordable health care can't encompass all things. We must decide if health insurance is to cover the small things, doctor office visits, emergency room treatment or drugs. Or, we must decide if health insurance is to cover the serious things and we take care of the minor stuff on our own. Health insurance can't do both and be affordable.
