rrufff,

<< All good points Eric. >>

Yours too.

* I'd like to see controls or filters so we can avoid the spammers

I think we have them, and filters will be added. I like the moderated board concept now (although I didn't originally)

* The political whackos and other assorted crackpots from just producing a new account every day. This is done on RB and Yahoo and is why they are largely a waste of time for those of us who trade most of the day.

I share that sentiment.

* I think the owners here wish to create the best financial chat site.

I'm convinced that they do. THE BEST.

I think they can.

I think they will.

* Perhaps limiting freebies by 1 to an IP and/or email, limiting freebie posting to financial, not coffee, threads, might eliminate the spammers and whackos.

I meant to qualify that in my prior post to you.

I like the 3 post gig, but I do think those posts should be limited to a certain category of boards - Company specific, sector specific, investment theory, computing knowledge and learning, but NOT coffee klatch, not clubhouses, and especially not the overemotional political thingoes.

<< I haven't followed the Motley Fool board in a while. Does anyone know how they have fared since it became largely a pay site? >>

Quite well, I think. Improved since paying.

I participate in a dozen boards over there.

It's a great forum. The threaded discussions (like newsgroups of yore) are unique these days. More international participation than this one. Better overall decorum, IMO.

Best,

- Eric -
