Ed, while you wait for thecow: I'd recommend a new computer. A basic one can be had for under $400.

If not, you could upgrade the PC to Windows 98, but that would cost maybe 80 bucks for an OS Microsoft only supports reluctantly any more.

I think you cannot upgrade Win95 to WinXP microsoft.com

dont want to step on cows toes but you might consider 98se and you can probably find a copy at a flea market or on ebay. I assume you don't want to buy a new box at this point.

98SE or 2000 if you can get someone to give you a copy. It's not worth investing more money in a machine that old. You can get a new XP machine now really cheap.
