What is absurd about using real world statistics to allocate societal resources and considering the same regarding your personal safety? The fact that you preceive it as absurb to consider other threats to your safety, proves how well the government's terrorism scare tactics are working on you. The fact is you or I are far more likely to die while on our way to work, by foot or car, or while taking a fully legal prescription drug, that was incorrectly filled, than to die from a rare terrorist incident.

Terrorism and 9/11 are being used as a boogeyman by Bush to scare people into voting for his agenda. If people really looked at the facts, they'd be more concerned with the more mundane threats to their livelihood. Perhaps some of those resources being wasted in Iraq would be better spent making our cities, roads, cars/trucks, and prescription drugs safer. Tackling these common problems would save far more lives than fighting a far-flung war against terrorism.
