Of course...

Here are the contributors as I see them:
1) politics has become more about personalities than about issues.

2) We have people who registered to vote when they were 18 and have become patriots to a party rather than to the Principles on which this country is founded.

3) Character has been the focus of the current campaign since the candidates are not clearly distinguishable on platforms. As a result, negative adds and character assassination has become the primary vehicle for drawing attention to the race.

4) Many common citizens are simply picking up the smear venue and applying it not only to the candidates but to each other in these thread discussions.
