It's true that any change to the reporting or classification methodology needs to be visible before the data is examined... but a bombing, or mortar attack is still an 'attack'. We should also consider the effect of the 'no-go' zones in three major Iraqi provinces.... I would expect significantly higher raw numbers for attacks were we to attempt to re-enter these areas on the ground. (IMO --- as the first Prez. Bush and Scowcroft wrote --- a partition of Iraq along Sunni / Shia / & Kurdish lines is the most likely outcome.)
