TOKYO (AFX) - Japanese investors last week sold more foreign bonds than they bought, Ministry of Finance (MoF) data shows, the eighth week in the past 16 in which they were net sellers

Japanese investors sold a net 621.1 bln yen of foreign bonds during the week Sept 21-24, having been net buyers of 1.798 trln yen the previous week, international portfolio investment fund flow data compiled by the MoF showed

Japanese investors are a major force in the US government debt market, and their investment stance is closely watched for evidence of whether US Treasury yields and interest rates are likely to rise or fall due to the willingness of foreign investors to continue financing a large proportion of the US federal budget deficit
