Edwards, in my belief is not smiling so much NOT because of any fear of any poll or any fight.
John Edwards also is a good closer, and his representations as a goodie twoshoes is false. John Edwrads is a real man and can rhetorically kick ass with facts. He'll smile at Cheney out of disgust or pity, but not out of defeat.
John Edwards is a fighter, and a rather hard fighter when he's in a contest.
