"Observers frequently say that the 2004 election is one of the most important in recent decades. Why? Because President Bush won a disputed election in 2000, Republican margins in Congress are narrow, partisanship is intense, the United States is at war, relations with traditional allies are strained, and security at home is threatened."

My wonderful Senator - Patty Murray - voted against giving Bush a blank check on Iraq. She is running about 10 points ahead of her Republican challenger - Nethercutt.
