"Are you saying that when you choose a new background colour in your member options, it doesn't get applied?"

No. Using Netscape, the tool bar with member options is not displayed. The entire page is black with the exception of a few hyperlinks which show up in blue.

For casual browsing, I normally disable Java. Turning it back on didn't fix the problem. I experimented with the color preferences. Checking "us my own colors" will cause the text to appear, but then nothing else on the Internet displays properly. The new site was working for me for a few days, then this bug popped up. SI is the only site I've ever run across anything like it and the problem is unique to SI, so it's fairly obvious it's an SI bug.

I try to use IE as little as possible. Spyware, viruses and trojan programs that will crash an older Netscape browser, will infect a system through Internet Explorer. IMO, using an older browser is the lesser of the two evils.
