Ted, And if Paris Hilton and Barbara Bush are not prepared to fight, then we'd better not start any wars.

Another Ted-ism that ranks right up there with "fake but true." Thanks!

By the way, while you and Rangel and even Kerry try to turn national defense into a class warfare issue, let me tell you a truth that will change your entire world view once you figure it out: Communism isn't democratic.

Since WW II, the rich have started the wars and the lower classes have fought them.

So? Isn't that common sense? One reason people try to get rich is so that they have the choice between playing golf and firing a weapon against an enemy. The key difference with the US is that (theoretically) it is easier to make the transformation from poor to rich if you work hard. But for those that haven't made the transformation yet, and are sitting there in the poor camp, of course they are going to get the short end of the stick when it comes to military service.

That's capitalism.

Even with a draft they wouldn't be drafted.

And if we could force Paris Hilton in to the military I don't think it would be either just or useful. It would be unjust because it is involuntary force service, it wouldn't be useful because having Paris in the army would probably be counterproductive. I just can't imagine her being a good soldier.

re: In a democracy, everyone is involved in the decision making process, not just the elite. What a concept, huh?!

so home democrats are calling for lawyers when they are not elected - very novel concept for democracy, huh?

re: the rich have started the wars and the lower classes have fought them.

yep, just to name few of those "warmangers": JFK, Carter, Clinton, .....
