Malcolm,

Do you think I'm on the path collecting vintage Levis jeans?

It does feel awfully lonely I gotta say, and unless this Atkins diet thing kicks in really well there are less and less people who can wear these all the time.

Lonely path is narrow path, too far to one side and your efforts will never amount to anything of value, too far to the other and its not lonely anymore because you're with the group. -Lao Tsu

Remember that in advanced industrial countries the number of people who invest is roughly equal to the number of people who travel more than say three times a year by air travel. Both groups of people are becoming larger fractions of the adult population, with economic growth, democractization of information and access, spread of the internet, etc.

In Spring 1998 I distinctly remember a fringe conceptual artist talk to me about investing in Intel. Blue fringe hair, a few piercings.

It took a while for the final peak, however.

With royalty trusts, when there is talk that they should be x% of everyones portfolio (like 5% in gold), and you see articles on Royalty Trusts for Dummies, and it makes the front pages of the financial section more than once a month (excepting real news, like the gas under bitumen in Alberta), then we could be close to a top.

But Malcolm, best I can tell, United States investors are only just barely starting to notice Canadian energy, especially the trusts. When I read in my local paper some investment advisor talking about these, maybe I will start getting out.

EDIT. Well I see other people are saying much the same thing--hadn't read those messages yet.

Remember that we are posting on a thread that has 338 bookmarks. That's not a very large slice of the investing public.
