Ever since the end of 1998, Beijing has adapted motocycle ban within the 2nd Ring (Er Huan Road), and since 2001, within the 4th Ring (Si Huan Rd.). That is why you don't see any of them<g>

And more and more cities will enforce this regulation. This is good for environment and traffic and also save some lives.<g>

They must have identified you are NOT local people. Usually, unregistered "taxi" are cheaper. And the official taxi drivers are having a very hard time now in Beijing, long hours and very low pay. A lot of them only earn less than 10 Yuan/hr. after all cost deducted, a very low standard in Beijing. It is only because Beijing does not allow private taxi companies. Otherwise, NO one will work for those big tax companies.
