If we rationally expected that yields would increase in the future, say because oil prices are currently low, or the trust is able to drill more each year, a low first year yield might be okay.

Some of the more successful companies (drugs, big oil, banks) are able to increase dividends about 8 years out of each decade...

Now when oil is $65 a barrell, we might see articles about $100 oil.
