$275,749,000,000

since Sept. 2003, $30,842,000,000

$33 billion includes other foreign bonds and stocks. So only $30.8 billion for US bonds and stocks

China is not running a huge trade surplus. In fact some months ago it had a slight deficit. It runs a huge trade surplus with the US, but hefty trade deficits with Korea and Japan -- from where it imports parts and machinery. So lately the surplus dollars are exchanged for won and yen to buy the stuff.
