What is nice about Seattle is it's mild four seasons. Yes it is grey (not really raining) from Oct until April and rains much less than most people think. It also has IMHO the best summer weather in the country. From mid June until Mid Sep. highs are 75-85 low humidity, lows mid 60's. Few people have air conditoned homes, not needed. Maybe 2 days a year we reach the 90's.

What I really don't miss about Detroit is the extremely hot and humid summer nights. In Seattle evenings are always cool and days very long. The biggest problem is commmuting, which luckily doesn't hurt me since I work from home.

Does Ann Arbor have much industry outside of college and research labs?

Best
