I think the truth is that these debates are
so stylized anymore that the term "debate" may
not even apply.

They're more of a beauty contest, in a figurative sense.

Kerry has the most to gain since he's the challenger.
Bush primarily has to avoid any major gaffes.

I'm sure they both have been stocked to the gills
with catch phrases.

Bush is given to malapropisms.
Kerry is too used to giving rambling Senate speeches
to be able to confine himself to succinct points.

Bush is more easy going.
Kerry doesn't do self-deprecation very well. It's
not in his vocabulary.

Kerry is probably slicker, but that may not be a plus.

As I said earlier, at least Bush's face won't be orange:-)
