Exactly, Dan. But there's an even deeper suggestion than that the theory-in-question might be bunk. In fact - and using my admittedly more rigorous definition of the term "theory" than is usually applied - an individual choosing to respond to a logical/evidentiary challenge with vituperative emotion, ad hominems, and/or monopolistic assertions of truth may, and perhaps probably, doesn't have a theory at all. My conclusion would be that they are merely attempting to assert opinions coercively. It's a tactic which, in terms of argumentative strategies, is wonderful to be on the opposing side of. Take it from me, with my presence on a number of "ignore" lists as evidence. ;-) LPS5
