I looked over last nights posts and I want to apologize for not paying closer attention to this thread's name (specifically the second word)! A bit of an over-reaction...

Sure, wars are as much about economics as politics but, as the "leader of the free world", the US has a responsibility to everyone on this planet NOT to over use our powerful position in this world. The path we have taken in Iraq begs the question of future pre-emptive strikes and to what degree does a nation have to cross the line before we attack.

You have stated that we should not undermine the leadership while our troops are fighting. I agree completely on a fundamental level but we have a new paradigm facing our leadership. The "War on Terror" will continue well past the next 4 years or, more specifically, well past this administration's watch. Waiting until the fighting is over to change the leadership is not an option with this type of fight. I disagree that our civilian population lacks the courage to fight and win and it appears (to me) that you put too much stock into what the whiners and bitchers say.
