And, too, he's used to the positive feedback he gets from pre-screened hoardes of his admirers. He's never really had to answer for anything. And tonight proves that. Four years ago, Bush's laid back blah blah against Gore's wooden impatience won.

Chris...I think you've touched on a point that may have been GW's Achilles heel in this debate. He's been sheltered for the past 4 years. His handlers have done their best to shield him from pointed and adversarial questions. When he was confronted head on with questioning of his policies he seemed not to be able to handle the turbulence comfortably
