I think Bush's stock expressions fell flat too. We've all seen them again and again. He looked like a chimp. His posture was chimpish. He especially looked like a chimp in the long reaction shots when John Kerry was speaking. Bush looked like a very unhappy chimp..

Tonight was Bush's strong suit. He gets another shot because he likes the format of the next one (supposedly). They need to go up on the caffeine and no-doze. This debate was after his normal bedtime.

Rove's going to blow an artery over this.
I think Rove's going to call for a Super Double-Secret Orange Alert.

I completely agree with that assessment. Bush was thrown off early by Kerry's attacks. Kerry came off as extremely cool and presidential, Bush as defensive, confused, and inarticulate. In other words, we got to see them in their 'raw' unspun state.

Will be interesting to see the reaction, but if this doesn't swing the polls back towards Kerry, then nothing will. Kerry kicked Bush behind tonight.
