Hi Taikun,
You favor some oil service companies over trusts. Your scenario is that the desperate trusts and for that matter regular oil companies also must spend a greater and greater percentage of their money on exploration equipment.
That certainly seems reasonble to me. But it may not result in increased profits for the oil services companies. Say you have a team of smart programmers who produce a great program that quickly and accurately interprets 3D seismic data. I see your advantage and fly to Bangalore and organize a similar team. Everybody notices that we two are the only really good names in town so they all pile in and produce their programs. Result --- we rent our programs for nickels. That's the software business, pal, and I don't think oil exploration hardware can be much different. I want to own the company of the guys that actually found some oil. I accept some of Jay's thesis. In other words I wouldn't hold onto PEYTO if the yield went down to 4%, say.
