You didn't really reply to my point. To simplify the UN is not a world government and it can not make things illegal.

The US hasn't removed itself from any important world institution. As for "removing itself from the affairs of the world", the sitatuations that you are complaining about are the exact opposite. In situations like Iraq the US is forcefully pushing itself in to the affairs of the rest of the world.
