Kerry would have the summit as the first step back to an America that works with and listens to allies, instead of the Bush America that orders and bullies allies.

The Bush people scoff at Kerry's idea that we could get other nations more involved in the rebuilding of Iraq, because they've asked these nations before and been rebuffed. What the Bush people simply cannot see is that their arrogance and lack of any diplomatic skill has pushed these allies away. Of course they aren't going to give Bush what he wants; you don't help nations that treat you like dirt.

Bush's disdain for allies, the UN, and any international body are the main reasons why we can't get help in Iraq. Other reasons include his unwillingness to include other countries in the economic revival, and unwillingness to consider and sharing of decision making in Iraq.

Kerry will not only open the dialogue and resume diplomacy, he will open the doors so that the UN can really start to operate. He will persuade Arab and Muslim countries to help put a non-American face on the occupation, and get them to help restart the reconstruction. The Iraqi people will realize that the occupation has turned from an American one to an international one, and finally start to take responsibility for their own security, IMHO.

Remember, diplomacy and capitalism won the Cold War, not weapons systems, occupations, or fighting insurgents.
