Kerry clearly won the debate. Anyone who says it was a "tie" is just plain wrong. Not a single poll even finds it close. All polls I've seen are about 60% to 35% Kerry over Bush. And that is being charitable to Bush.

Bush didn't lay a glove on Kerry all night. And he could have. I could have debated Kerry better than Bush did. Kerry does have a few weaknesses. Bush ignored them and repeated the same generalizations over and over. Meanwhile Kerry was out-pointing him over and over, then landed some stunners. Kerry also won on the charm level, a nicer guy. Bush even gaffed when he said he kept his adult daughters on a "short leash". What does that tell us?

Bush was on the ropes. Maybe not a knock-out but a very bad night for Bush. he may not recover. If Kerry does this two more times Bush may lose by 20%.
