it was kind of sad when that officer did himself in. course he is the one who wore the medals, but it was others who laid the praise on him because of his medals and he did nothing to stop it.

it was just like max cleland, triple amputee with real valor medals, but for ones which he didn't lose any limbs. but the majority of us thought he lost those 3 limbs in combat.... we didn't know it was all over making a beer run.....

i was shocked that he allowed this perception to take place for many many years....

Boorda was the best CNO the Navy has ever had and was a real sailor's CNO. Boorda achieved all ranks in the Navy and could identify very strongly with the enlisted community. The issue with Boorda was his bronze star..with combat V NOT a silver star with combat V.
