Kerry's family was originally Jewish. When his great grandparents emigrated to the USA, they changed both their name & religion. The senator is a practicing Catholic today. When Kerry is mistakingly introduced as Irish he never corrects anyone, because he's aware it's an advantage for voters to have that mistaken perception in Mass. Classic Kerry move... taking advantage of any means to further his political career.
