Theosophy traced back to Plato-----fascinating how various philosophies and religion develope. One that I find very fascinating is one developed by Walter Russell and his wife Theo-----they bought a replica of an Italian Palace in Charlottesville Virginia back in the 1940's or maybe the early 1950's atop Afton Mountain. Russell was a scientist and sculptor-----sculpted numerous President's and did a lot with Mark Twain. To make it short----Russell claimed to be inspired by God---each year in Mary he would retreat into the woods to be alone and to receive his revelations-----this started when he was a very young boy. Russell and Theo then started later-----The University of the Enlightment. Their writings are some of the most interesting that I have read from the 20th Century. They cause one to pause to think to reflect to be. The property was sold in the 1990's to a local man whose family owns most of Afton Mountain near Charlottesville. Had heard that it was going to be a bed and breakfast---do not know what was done with it. If you have not read Russell's writings----then suggest you get some copies of his musings. mj
