BP, I have only read parts of the Koran, and some of them dictate that all moslems be ready to kill all infidels, and receive their reward in Heaven. If this is true, all moslems are suspect, unless they, as groups, go public with their differences with the koran. Until they do, I will continue to have little trust in an moslem. They are prone to being controlled by their imams, mullahs, and other clerics, and do exactly what they tell them to do.

The only solition for them, IMO, is to divorce themselves from the mainstream islamic teachings. Such splinter groups have cropped up in many other religions, but is yet to be seen, in any quantity, among the moslems.

In case you question the way I spell moslem, that is what they were called when I was growing up, and I am not about to change.

Which is exactly why I, and others on this thread, abhor Islamism

"Islam" is different from "Islamism"

Islam is the religion, plus its code of laws and commentaries. It is 1400 + years old.

Islamism is a modern political movement that rolls up warmed-over fascism in the green flag of Islam, and creates a new flavor of theocratic fascism. Islamism is about 40 years old, or 200 years old if you count their Wahhabi progenitors as Islamists. Islamism is a reaction to globalization and the triumph of the West. It is a very modern movement that looks to progress by regressing to a perfect 7th century that never was.

Islamism is a subset of Islam. Actually, it's arguable that Islamism is actually NOT a subset of Islam, but something all its own.

Whatever. The point is that not all Muslims are Islamists.
