If we went into Pakistan, there is a strong argument that Musharaf would have been overthrown and then we would really be over-extended. Taking a simplistic view, as we all do when we espouse our theories, it's easy to postulate. As President, one has to look at all the "intelligence," which is conflicting and often CYA. My point "NOT SO EASY." I'd like to say that I'd do exactly as you said and it probably would have been the right move. My point is that a President can't be sure he wouldn't have made the situation worse. Now, that's no reason to vote for Bush. However, the criticism in this area is no reason to vote for Kerry. I was really hoping the Democrats would have nominated someone who came up with a real step-by-step plan in each major issue facing the US, not just Iraq. However, as with the primaries, the Kerry campaign could be a message board synopsis. I posted early on a thread that if it comes down to Bush v anti-Bush, Bush will win. So far, it looks like I am right on that whacky prediction. How many anti-Bush people can detail what Kerry would do on estate taxes, income taxes, welfare reform, health care, social security, the mideast, Russian relations, China trade, UN finances, computerization of education, etc., etc., etc. I know -"Go to John Kerry.com and get the answers for yourself." Joe Undecided and Mary Unregistered and Harry Registered but not bothering to Vote, aren't going to do that. The message is not coming across. So, again, if all the message board posters in the anti-Bush world post 1000 times that Bush is a moron and he screwed up Iraq, it's not going to get Kerry elected, because Kerry isn't doing much (outside of the debate, in which he did well) to get his message across.
