Kerry's need for sports related photo opportunities may also be designed to avoid questions about his failure to release his medical records. Remember, he has had cancer and while he is considered a "cancer survivor," he does not want any comparisons to the late Paul Tsongas. Tsongas also was labeled as a cancer survivor but ended up dying of cancer approximately 4 years after running for the White House. If he had won, he would have been disabled during part of his term.
