According to USA Today Friday, October, 1, 2004, page 3B in the Money Section very few camera cell phones have memory card slots.

While that may be true right now, this is a market that is just ramping up. It will be a driver of massive new growth next year and, IMO, especially the year after next as the feature becomes standard and prices drop. The more people use it the more people will buy and use it (not intended to be redundant<g>).

If it is then it looks like the camera cell phone removable flash memory market is more of a niche market than a growth market.

We are still at the beginning of the trend towards removable flash memory....but luckily, once the mobile market starts to adopt a feature, it usually grows much faster than anybody expected. Both color screens and cameras became standard in the mid-tier of the market within 18-24 months of their first appearance on the market.

One illustration of the trend....Vodafone just announced their lineup of handsets for the W-CDMA launch. Of the ten handsets, nine seem to have some sort of flash slot. I expect we will see the same sort of adoption once Sprint move towards 1xEV-DO handsets.

Howard, some of the first digital cameras also had no memory slots or even used floppies.

I don't interpret this as a negative indicator in this nascent market.
