Screen Resolution Stat Correction

Bill,

<< The resolution stat is very useful. I'll bet the 1024 group goes up to 70+% over the next 2 years. >>

You are probably correct, although 1280 x 1024 is increasing as well. My bad, however I accidently gave you a 15 month old stat. This is the most recent from June 22, 2004:

OneStat.com ..., today reported that more and more internet users choose for screen resolution 1024 x 768 which is the most popular screen resolution for exploring the internet. The finding has important implications for web site designers because most web sites are designed for a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. The screen resolution 1024 x 768 has reached an all time high and has risen from 48.3 percent in June 2003 to 54.02 percent. Users with monitors set to the most common resolution 800 x 600 for web sites have an approximate 24.66 percent global usage share. A year ago this percentage was 31.7 percent. The most popular screen resolutions on the web in the world are:

1. 1024 x 768 54.02%
2. 800 x 600 24.66%
3. 1280 x 1024 14.10%
4. 1152 x 864 4.00%
5. 640 x 480 0.60%
6. 1600 x 1200 0.80%
7. 1152 x 870 0.10%

All numbers are an average of the last 2 months.
