"Other than that I am not aware of govt funded benefits that are available to sponge off.

How about health care? The majority of babies born in Los Angeles are to non-citizens who do not reimburse the hospital.

How about free legal services provided to non citizen criminals. Subsequent room and board in prison is gratis as well.

How about food stamps?

How about free seconday education? (for those who pay no income tax)

Unemployment benefit (which is based on contribution by employer) is available for upto 6 months.

Other than that I am not aware of govt funded benefits that are available to sponge off.

Food stamps and Medicaid are two.
Also, refugee immigrants get six months of free dental care and free ESL classes.

And the resettlement agency gets a minimum of $400 per person for several months to provide logistical support including job search. At least 1/2 of that goes directly to the immigrant in cash.

Then there are the NGOs and their support.
