Sarge With all due respect Hey this is politics ... you are supposed to be passionate...

Anyway..

I think Martin was re-elected because folks are afraid of change and the devil you know is better than the devil you don't...

To give a few reasons why I could not hold my nose hard enough to vote for Martin..
I can start with Martin's off shore tax avoidance
Add his registering his ships offshore to avoid Canadian standards (don't tell me any blind trust BS) thereby paying far lower wages than he'd pay to Canadians if registered here
(He was the friggin finance minister and now PM for God's sake)
and continue with the fact that he took all the credit for balancing the budget when all he did was choke the provinces and municipalities and say you guys are on your own... The provinces like Quebec and Alberta and others (sadly not Ontario) that fixed their own budgets are the real heroes of our balanced federal budget...

Let's give McGinty a chance ... it's the Toronto Mayor that is problematic in my book... but I digress..

Maybe Martin is in the wrong party LOL ?

BTW I'm no flaming right winger just so you know... Hell I even voted for Bob Rae.. I like our public health system although knowing it from the inside saddens me to know first hand the waste and empire building that has been allowed whatever party had power...... Remember Harper was theonly guy that said 'Let's see WHERE we are spending all this money'''

And yes the conservatives provincially in Ontario were the gang that could not shoot straight.. Too bad we got Harris and Eves (get a hair style for the modern age Ernie) instead of John Tory...

I also happen to think our public school system is underfunded and full of dead weight both ... I've seen an example of terrible waste and an exemplary example of schoolwide dedication both in the same system ... it takes the right people if which there are too few... It's easy to see if you have schoolage children and are an involved parent...

And lastly I'd say our 'Conservatives' are nothing like the Bush camp... just not nearly right enough which suits me fine too.. :o) Unlike many of my Canucky fellow posters on these thread of a more conservative bent than I I think Bush was dead right on Afghanistan but dead wrong on Iraq..

Actually lastely we both know Martin was not elected by a majority of Canadians.. Far more Canaidian voted for someone else than voted for Martin... but we have a first past the post system... in fact less than 37% of Canadians voted liberal... that speaks volumes in my mind... 63% voted against Martin...and he one !!!!

These same Liberals that say to Quebec 50% +1 vote is not enough...
As Bruce would say ''' An they call it democracy''''

regards
Kastel who in his life has voted for many parties even Réné Levésque and the PQ :o)

But yes I voted /Alliance / Conservative the last few elections...
