But Claude as the CND $$ climbs against the USD $$ all the Canadian miners squeal that their costs go up so then that is used as an excuse for stocks like NGX to go down in price. Happened on the most recent surge of the CND from the high 60's to the high 70's against the USD. Right or wrong?

Bold.... but certainly not impossible. That increase in the CDN dollar that you suggest, will no doubt partially reflect a general global weakness in the US $ and consequently at minimum a proportional rise in the gold price. Higher Cdn costs perhaps but higher gold prices. Its a washout.
