The first problem with Islam is that within it's texts are very direct statements that easily can be held to justify secular discrimination and compulsions against any who do not believe. The second problem is any tom dick are harry can claim to be the one how knows the real interpretation.

Other religions all have the above problems, but no where near the scope of Islam. The largest and fastest growing religion in the world is Christianity and specifically, Catholicism. The Pope is the ultimate single person who interprets the meaning of the Gospels. But Christianity also has it's toms dicks and harry who interpret. There are dozens of Chistian sects.

As to creating a representive Government in Iraq, all the comments about how alien this is to Arabs does not make it impossible. It means other Arab countries don't want to help.

Iraq has all in all, educated Arabs, Muslims and Kurds. Iraq has natural resources. Communication and exposure to outside ideas today expose all to all perspectives.

In the age of mass communications, people can find the truth.
What is possible today was not possible even a decades ago.

And every day, technology and communications gets cheaper and better.

The power just went off. well time to post this. Ain't UPSes grand. The power is still off.

chinu. That was a good article. Many good points such as Bush was not wrong to invade iraq and remove sadam.

I have been saying for a long time now that the backwards nature of islam does not fit in todays modern world so it must change.... big problem is how long a time will change take? I also believe that it will be very difficult for islam to understand democracy let alone accept it.

Islam is a culture where children are taught from birth to hate the infidels or to strap bombs on themselves and go out and murder innocent people so they can be rewarded in a paradise somewhere for murder. People who are raised in this manner really believe that what they are doing is good. They really believe that they murder for allah. How can people like this possibly understand democracy? They can understand freedom but freedom does not necessarily have to be a democracy like we have here in the West. So my guess is that people like in Iraq will somehow find a way to have freedom as well as their islam religion...maybe somewhat like Turkey.

Let me ask you something, why did islam terrorists attack America where freedom of religion is a respected and enforced law. Why would they attack a country where they are free to pratice their religion as they wish?

IMO the attack was because islam fears the freedom that America represents and this is a threat to islam and a threat to those leaders such as in Iran, Pakistan, and many other countries where islam is not just another religion within a countries government but where islam is the absolute law and is the government.

Why do you think it is so important for islam to test all of our democratic laws for weakness? why is it so important for islam to be involved in the governments of free and democratic countries? Look at Europe today, they are in serious trouble with their muslim populations. I have read that in some countries in Europe even the police are afraid to venture into muslim areas of their own countries.

IMO islam is after nothing less than world domination. we must all submit to their allah.

Look around the world chinu, you know what I say is true.

Islam will be stopped but the cost could be extremely high and the longer the free world refuses to except what is staring them right in the face the bloodier will be the culture clash.

And I will say again chinu...I do not believe that everyone, every member of islam is bad but I believe their religion that has spawned the islam terrorist we see murdering innocent people all over the world is wrong and MUST be changed and the change must come from within.
